From the Underground: SABREWULF
Like me, many of you are always on the hunt for good underground metal. For this feature of ‘From the Underground’, I invite you to check out SABREWULF out of El Paso, TX. Essentially, you are looking at a brutal combination of Hardcore and Sludge, with some Crust built in for good measure. The band has pumped out two self-released efforts, the first being ‘Prophecy’, released November 2011 and the second being ‘The Condemned’ EP released in June of this year. The tunes are easy to get into, and the overall sound of SABREWULF makes for a good listen. Check out “The Damned” from ‘The Condemned’ EP below.
I was first exposed to SABREWULF when I lived in El Paso, but unfortunately never go to see them live. Shame on me, I know…What you get with SABREWULF is some good overall musicianship, crunching percussion that keeps the music moving at a relentless pace, and sludgy guitar work that almost glues the music together.
I hope you enjoy – and be sure to visit SABREWULF at the links below. If nothing else, hit them up on Bandcamp and download their music for free.
