From the Underground: WORN OUT
The demo from WORN OUT spans only nine minutes, but the 11 songs on this blast of aggression left knuckle imprints on my eardrums. The grinders out of Chicago keep a furious pace for most of the demo, but show off some mid-tempo hardcore as well. The blood-curdling vocal attack is absolutely punishing.
The tracks on WORN OUT’s demo run together in a continuous barrage of grinding hardcore. You really have to listen to this bad boy from start to finish to get the full effect. The majority of the demo is in your face and laden with chaotic speed. What really makes this demo stand out is the transition into a more sludgy hardcore on “Jesus S(l)aves” and the outro. Grinders and Hardcores alike need to check this one out.
Fast forward to WORN OUT’s upcoming split release with Australia’s SHACKLES and you hear first hand that the band is rapidly progressing in sound and song composition. The seven tracks contributed by WORN OUT are insanely fast, better quality, and kick the shit out of your headspace.
The opener is righteous, and will immediately rope you in. “Condemned to Rot” is a great track spanning a whopping 49 seconds (in true grind fashion), and is featured below courtesy of the band. This fresh cut of grind was made available in full on the WORN OUT Bandcamp page a few days ago HERE, and can be downloaded for a measly buck!
Be sure to check out Holy Mountain’s recent interview with WORN OUT at one of my favorite sites, Cvlt Nation, HERE. Go out and see these guys – they will run you through the meat grinder and leave you asking for more!!!
