Released September 25th, the newest addition to the CAR BOMB arsenal, w^w^^w^w, detonates an eccentric and blaringly funky sonic blast to the likes of Mathcore fans. The band’s latest iteration is a product manufactured with utmost deliberation; now autonomous from the influence of a record label, they have managed to exercise control over every aspect of production — they even built their own recording devices. w^w^^w^w, the band’s second LP, comes on the heels of CAR BOMB’s summer tour with GOJIRA and even features a guest appearance by Joseph Duplantier on the track “Third Revelation.”
The appeal in this clever and complex album lays in the unique (and sometimes disorienting!) song structure. While quirky transitions are the norm in Mathcore, CAR BOMB take it a step further and give off a stream-of-consciousness quality, making you feel like they are engrossed in the moment of performance rather than recording in a sterile studio setting. They use unexpected tempo changes, haphazard vocals and are liberal with squeals and effects, making the overall product fun but undeniably intense.
